I had another doctor appointment in June where we got to hear the heartbeat again. I had no idea that every time that we went we would get to experience that. It is such an awesome feeling to hear our baby's heartbeat. At this appointment I had 7 viles of blood taken. Kev found a snack in my person before we were even out the door and was making me eat it. He takes good care of me. Everything came back normal on the results except that I am anemic but now I just take iron pills for that. No big deal. A couple days later we went in for some genetic screening to test for things like down syndrome. The first part of the test is an ultra sound. We went to a different doctor for this and were so excited that we were going to get to see our baby and that we might find out what it was. The room was nothing like what I expected...I was thinking I would be looking a little computer screen while craning my neck to see the baby. Turns out the have the ultrasound machine hooked up to like a 42 inch screen tv where you can really see everything right in front of you. The technician came in to take some measurements of the baby for the screening and the whole time he was looking it was asleep with its arms covering its face. He tried to wake it up by poking and proding at my belly but it just kept on sleeping. A few minutes later the doctor came in to take another look and talk to us about the results. When she started looking the baby was definitely awake and moving all over the place. I cannot even describe in words the feeling I felt watching my baby move around. Tears of joy began to roll down my face. The doctor was able to see and predicts that we will be having a girl. Although it is only about 60% accurate at 13 weeks. We are both excited that it might be a girl but I know Kev is still holding out for the 40% chance that it is a boy. No matter what we get we will be happy though. The screening also involved blood work...again. So far everything is normal but I will have one more blood test done next week to know for sure. I also go back on August 10th to find out what we are having for sure. We cannot wait for this day to come.
