Happy Mother's Day

All of Saturday (the day after we found out) Kev and I racked our brains on fun ways to tell our parents that we were expecting. We finally figured it out and after dinner that night went shopping for our ideas and started putting it all together. On Sunday, Mother's Day, we had both of our parents over for dinner. Kev picked up bbq and we debated on when we should share the big news. Kev's thought process was if we tell them before dinner they will be too excited to eat. My thought process was to tell them right off the bat because how in the world was I going to not just blurt it out during dinner. We decided to wait until after to tell them. We had picked up a cake from Walmart and Kev had them put a plus sign in the middle of the cake to symbolize a positive pregnancy test. We knew they might be a little thrown off by this...or so we thought. Kev brought out the cake and sat it on the table while I handed each soon to be grandma a gift bag. Sara just sat there and stared at the cake and then stared at us, then back at the cake and then back at us. We knew she was onto us but no one else was even looking at the cake. We said just open your gifts. Inside of each bag was a grandchildren picture frame with a note inside the frame that said: Coming Soon...January 2012. They just stared and questioned if we were for real. Sara began to scream and mom began to cry. It was so amazing to see the reactions from our moms and our dads. You could totally see how excited they were to become grandparents. After the gifts we cut the cake and opened a bottle of champagne (sparkling cider for me). Later that evening we went to Em's work and told her we had left something in her truck that we needed. She came out and we gave her the plus sign from the cake. She just kind of looked at us funny so I handed her something that I had made that said "I can't wait to meet my Auntie Em." She caught on real quick with that and was so excited. We quickly celebrated in the parking lot and then it was back to work for her and back home for us to Skype with Kasey and David. We made up some excuse about wanting to show them something cool that we bought so they wouldn't be suspicious of anything (although I think they still might have been because we had never skyped before). When we got on we held up the Coming Soon...January 2012 picture. They were like..."are you trying to tell us something?" Everyone was so happy. It was such a joyous day to celebrate with everyone...each in their own way. We will remember that day for the rest of our lives and cannot wait to share the story one day with our little one.

More pics to come...have to get them from Sara when she is back in town.
